Tamper-resistant setup (Device Owner)

Optional child-app setup via wireless debugging. The child cannot disable or uninstall Safe Lagoon without a factory reset. Takes about 10 minutes and a computer.

Default setup uses Android Device Admin. A child who can open Settings can turn that off.

Device Owner is stronger: they cannot disable or uninstall Safe Lagoon without factory-resetting the phone. It is not magic (Safe Mode, a new user, or a reset still exist) but it is the path we use when kids keep switching the app off.

You need the child's unlocked phone and a computer on the same Wi‑Fi, about 10 minutes. Android 11+.

On the child's phone during Safe Lagoon setup

When the wizard offers Supervisor pairing / wireless debugging (not "skip"):

  1. Enable Developer options: Settings → About phone → tap Build number seven times.
  2. Settings → System → Developer options → Wireless debugging → On.
  3. Tap Wireless debugging → Pair device with pairing code.
  4. Enter the port and pairing code into the Safe Lagoon pairing screen.
  5. Finish. The app becomes device owner (set-device-owner).

If you already skipped pairing, you have Device Admin only. To move to Device Owner you typically need to Stop App, then run setup again and not skip pairing. Email support@safelagoon.com before you do that on a phone that is already protecting a child — we would rather walk it with you than have you wipe anything.

After it is on

  • Uninstall from the launcher will fail. That is the point.
  • To remove Safe Lagoon later you factory-reset the child phone. Uninstall.
  • Still set battery to Unrestricted and follow the OEM article. Device Owner does not stop Xiaomi from killing background work.

We will not claim this is unbreakable. It is the honest Android maximum without a factory reset.
